Why did you start teaching?

I decided to teach to make a difference in the lives of children by improving teaching and learning in classrooms. After several years of teaching in P-12 schools, I felt the best way to accomplish this goal was to pursue my doctorate and move into higher education. I still work daily to improve teaching and learning at both the university and P-12 levels.

What's the best advice that you could give your students?

Never forget the reason for your work...the children.

Be strong and courageous; do what's best for your students!

What is the one book you think everyone should read?

"To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee.
